Woman injured in gas explosion

After a domestic gas explosion caused six injuries in Jarrow only a few days ago, another has now had a similar outcome in Barrow.  Both believed to have been caused by gas leaks, it would appear that this is becoming only too common an occurrence.  Are gas companies to blame for this reoccurring problem?

Ashbury Chocolates fined £5,000 following severed finger

Ashbury Chocolates, a chocolate making company from Corby, Northamptonshire, has been fined £5,000 after an employee’s finger was severed when cleaning the machinery.  After the company admitted to breaching equipment regulations at Kettering Magistrates’ Court, they were fined £5,000, on top of which they had to pay costs of £3,500 and a victim surcharge of £15.

Patients flee fire

A fire broke out at Stoke Mandeville Hospital on Saturday – causing four of the hospital’s patients to require urgent treatment.  Three patients had to be treated due to smoke inhalation, and the other sustained a minor hand injury when trying to flee the building.
